The Nexus Prime Could Have Been Postponed For Patent Infringement

Do you remember that 4 days ago we told you something about an event that Google and Samsung had postponed to present a new Android smartphone, supposedly due to the death of Steve Jobs ? Well no, apparently they have postponed the event due to a probable patent infringement . The presentation of the Google Nexus Prime ( Galaxy Nexus ), which should have been presented yesterday, has had to wait for a better occasion, since the new smartphone may be violating some patents in terms of software or hardware.

This information had its origin in Twitter through the user @eldarmurtazin , having published a comment that reads: “ Nexus Prime and Android 4.0 are being questioned. Google will remove some of its features that are subject to patent wars. There is no probable release date . ” So, those people who thought that both Google and Samsung were showing respect towards Steve Jobs, may from now on question it, since both companies had serious intentions to present their new smartphone yesterday .

And of course, they were fully entitled , if Apple itself, even knowing the serious health condition of Steve Jobs, went ahead with the launch plans for the iPhone 4S last week . Unfortunately, so far it is not known for sure which are the patents that Samsung and Google could be violating, the only thing that fans of said operating system hope is that they have nothing to do with features that they have been waiting for months.

Experts estimate that the removal of features susceptible to patent infringement will not take long for Google, unless it is hardware , which could delay the launch indefinitely. For now, version 4 of Android ( Ice Cream Sandwich ), which will be the direct competition of iOS 5, it is likely that we will see it before the end of the year. At the end of the day, all of us are not benefiting from the competition that Google and Apple are facing by revamping their respective mobile operating system.
